The Objective: This project was for my senior thesis, which was when students were given the opportunity to research any topic. I decided to use this project as a chance to utilize my interest in textile design, as well as create a corporate identity and add another website to my portfolio. The Solution: From the beginning of my research I knew I wanted to create a company as context for my textile designs, but I also wanted that company to be charitable, similar to companies that donate products in exchange for their products being purchased. I came up with the concept for Once Upon a Blanket to donate fabric to become blankets to be donated to children in need, since blankets are important for providing warmth and security. This aspect of the company is what lead to the collection of textiles being related to children's stories, and for the textiles to be enjoyable and relatable to both children and adults. The final result of the project is a six textile design collection, swatch books that present these textiles and two additional color ways for each one, corporate branding, and a prototype for a company website.
